Nelson-Salcedo passes away

Selena Nelson-Salcedo (MPP ’07) unexpectedly passed away Sunday, June 4 while posted abroad at the U.S. Embassy in Bratislava, Slovakia. Nelson-Salcedo was a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State, and served as Consul at Embassy Bratislava since 2014, and previously in Embassies Santo Domingo and Kuala Lumpur. 

Selena, 38 years of age, is survived by her husband, Jorge Salcedo, and their two daughters (ages 3 and 4). The Embassy Bratislava has created an email address to which people may send condolence messages for the Salcedos:

A celebration of Selena’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 16, with visitation from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. before the service, at the The First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 161 West Broadway, Winona, MN 55987.

Mehta published in Star Tribune

Neeraj Mehta (MPP ’04) recently published his commentary on north Minneapolis housing development in the Star Tribune. Mehta is currently the director of community programs at the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
