Harper retires from running the Land and Water Legacy Program

Jane Harper.jpgJane Harper (MA '88) was recently featured in a story of the St. Paul Pioneer Press on the impact she has had on the woods and waters in Washington County over the years.

The featured story reads in part:

"Asking Jane Harper to pick a favorite nature spot in Washington County is like asking a mother to pick her favorite child.

But Harper, the Washington County planner who oversees a program to conserve land and protect water, admits to being partial to the Dale Woods property in northeast Woodbury. The 64-acre park is just southeast of Interstate 94 and Manning Avenue.

"I stop by there when I'm out and about, and sometimes jump out of the car and spend an hour taking a hike through there," Harper said. "It's beautiful."

Harper, who is 60, is retiring Thursday after almost 25 years with the county -- the past eight running the Land and Water Legacy program.
