Barnea accepts position with U.S. Department of Transportation

In August, 2011, Avital Barnea (MURP '11) joined the U.S. Department of Transportation in Washington, D.C., as a community planner in the Federal Transit Administration's Office of Planning and Environment. Her duties include working with transit authorities and other public agencies throughout the country on the New and Small Starts grant program for major transit investments, as well as evaluating project proposals and providing funding recommendations to Congress. Barnea obtained this position through the Presidential Management Fellowship (PMF) program, a two-year fellowship available for recent master's graduates students to pursue work in the federal government.
