Coon Rapids stays in-house for its new city manager

Matt Stemwedel (MPP '07) was recently promoted from Coon Rapids' assistant city manager to city manager. The following article appeared in ABC Newspapers on May 29, 2015.

"By consensus, the council May 28 chose Matt Stemwedel, who has been Coon Rapids’ assistant city manager since January 2012, to head city staff.

Separately, the council and a team of department heads spent the afternoon interviewing four finalists for the open position, which was caused by the retirement, announced in January, of Steve Gatlin after serving as city manager for close to three years. He had a 17-year career with the city of Coon Rapids, including 7 1/2 years as public services director and seven years as public works director. His last day was May 29."
