Rodgers and fellow alumni work to increase hiring of people with disabilities

Ken Rodgers (MPA ‘09),  who is an affirmative action officer at the Minnesota Department of Transportation, in conjunction with fellow Humphrey alumni, gained a huge victory for the disabled community with the signing of Executive Order 14-14 on the hiring of disabled people.

The executive order signed by Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton directs state agencies to hire more disabled people to counteract the drastic decline seen recently. By the year 2018, the goal is to increase the employment of disabled people from the 3.2 percent in 2013 to 7 percent. There is a series of reforms in addition to the increased percentage within the executive order created to help those with disabilities have an easier time finding state jobs.
