Longo heads program awarded Sen. Paul Simon Spotlight Award

nicklongo.jpgNick Longo (MA '97) is the director of Providence College's Global Studies program which has recently been chosen as one of three U.S. higher-education recipients of the Association for International Educators' 2012 Senator Paul Simon Spotlight Awards for Campus Internationalization. This award recognizes programs that work towards "comprehensive internationalization." Longo, Providence's first full-time Global Studies program director, notes "We take a collaborative approach in the Global Studies Program, so this award really is a recognition of how much can be accomplished when students, faculty, and community partners work together in a shared vision." Besides being the program's director, Longo also is an associate professor of public and community service studies. After completing his degree from the Humphrey, Longo received his PhD in the Department of Work, Community, and Family Education at the University of Minnesota in 2005.
